POB 10371 Mtn View Sta Hickory, NC 28603 July 1, 2004

54th ANNUAL REUNION -- SUNDAY, AUGUST 8, 2004 - 12:00 NOON

Dear Family and Friends,
Sunday, August 8, 2004 is our 54th annual reunion at Zion Lutheran Church, located at 1911 Zion Church Road, Rd# 1008, off NC Hwy 127 south of Hickory N.C. in the Mtn. View community.
The History of the Yoder Family in North Carolina by Dr. Fred Roy Yoder, complete with an index, will again be available for purchase during the reunion or by contacting Bill Yoder at the address below. Fred's children graciously funded the republication of this book so that money from sales can be used to maintain and preserve our cemeteries, churches, and artifacts.
Our group and the Yoder Newsletter have gathered a large amount of information on the descendants of Conrad's children who are not covered in Fred's book. There are also additions and error corrections we need to make to his book. It is your responsibility to send in this information! Please continue gathering your family information and your ancestors' data for this updating of our family history. Record full names, parents' names, spouse names, children's names, date and place of birth, marriage, death, place of burial, church membership, where lived, work and community involvement, armed forces service, lineage from Conrad Yoder, and any other details. Please let us know of any corrections to the existing book. (Indicate page number.) Write down or record stories, anecdotes, memories, accomplishments, and anything you want to remember about your family and ancestors. Your children and grandchildren and subsequent generations will be thankful if you make the effort no!
w to create a permanent record of family information. Insure that your family data will be correct!
Please help support our family organization financially and personally by volunteering to help. This mailing costs over $200 and we contribute to Zion for the use of the Parish Center, so please consider sending a check or contributing at the reunion. Many minor expenses like supplies and the PO box are paid for by individuals covering the costs, but we still need your help. Also please consider including in your charitable giving our home churches Zion & Grace, the Catawba County Historical Association, who gives us much aid, Lenoir-Rhyne College, whose founder and first president was Dr. Robert Anderson Yoder. The county history by Dr. Gary Freeze, The Catawbans Volume Two, covering thru 1947 was published last year, and both volumes are available at the history museum in Newton or from the historical association.
Please send your email addresses to Rachael at rkennedy@rbh.com. Please indicate if you are willing for this announcement to be sent by email instead of postal mail. Doing so will save significant printing and postage costs. Please send address corrections to Rachael via email or to her address on the reverse side of this sheet.
Please encourage all of your family members to attend, especially the younger folk. As we grow older, we tend to appreciate and grow more interested in our ancestry. Our Yoder reunion can serve as a basis for family members to learn how and where that can get more information on their background and heritage, as well as a way to get acquainted with extended family members. We owe our forebears respect, honor, and remembrance; we owe our progeny knowledge of them.
This year's agenda and contact information are on the reverse side.
